Level 3 Award in Education & Training (PTLLS)
Who is this course for?
The Level 3 Award in Education and Training (RQF) is an introductory level qualification in the adult education sector and is used by many of our students as a way into the teaching role of their dreams. This qualification is designed to help you get a basic understanding of teaching and training roles within the adult education and skills sector. It’s a great springboard to more advanced qualifications that allow you to teach and train in the real world. The Level 3 AET is suitable for beginners with little or no prior experience in teaching and training.
The qualification is made up of the following three units:
Unit 1: Understanding the Roles, Responsibilities and Relationships in Education and Training.
This introductory unit helps you to understand the introduction of teaching including health and safety, equal opportunities and the other professionals you may have to work with.
Unit 2: Understanding and using inclusive learning and teaching approaches in education and training.
This unit helps you to understand how people learn, the ways in which people communicate and how to use a range of different teaching methods and resources to help you meet your learners’ individual needs.
Unit 3: Understanding the principles and practices of assessment.
This unit identifies what assessment is and how to deliver excellent assessment practice. The unit is ideal for anybody with an interest in assessing workplace achievement or those delivering regulated qualifications and awards.
Micro Teaching:
This element will allow you to demonstrate your knowledge and skills in the elements your have studied within the three units. You will be asked to plan a 15 minute lesson which should be delivered with a minimum of 1 learner in either a real classroom environment or a simulated classroom such as your own home. The micro teaching lesson should be recorded using a camera such as on a smart phone or tablet pc and sent to us through your online portal for marking by a tutor. This element is assessed completely online and you are not required to attend a training centre to deliver your teaching.
Duration:
Learners are given up to 12 months to complete the course but can complete sooner. We expect you to spend approximately 120 hours on completion of this qualification. Some learners complete the course within around 6 weeks, this depends on the amount of time dedicated and previous knowledge and experience. During this time, you’ll also have 24/7 access to your online portal which has everything you need.
